The building of what is now Sochi Art Museum was built in 1936 and was initially used as a Communist Party Central Sochi office.  As the Museum of Art the building opened its doors in 1972. Sochi Art museum has a big collection of paintings, graphics, sculptures, decorative art and crafts by Russian and Soviet artists.
Various exhibitions dedicated to painters of the past and present are organized every month. There is a shop in the hall of the museum where you can buy paintings and sculptures, some antique items, jewelry pieces and works of art.

The square before the museum sometimes becomes an open-air stage for different events and public performances.
